Life as of 6/2/2008

This is going to be a brief rundown of life after high school and the mission.

-Dated some girls, found the right girl (Nicole), dated for two years, got married in the Salt Lake Temple and went on a cruise to the Caribbean for our honeymoon.

-Did some traveling - China, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Africa, Italy, England, Hawaii, all over the Caribbean, all over Mexico, all over the good old USA including a few visits each to Lake Powell, Vegas, and California.

-Got into Real Estate - Worked for AllPro Realty, and am now working for Liberty Homes.

-Got a puppy (little half Yorkie half Shih Tzu, mostly black with white paws, chest, and a white goatee.) Her name is Cookie.

- Lived in too many different places. Maybe I should explain this one. Nicole and I got married in August of 2005. We lived in an apartment for the first five months of our marriage. Before we were in our apartment we had put money down for a new condo in West Jordan by Jordan Landing. After about five months of living in our apartment our condo was finished and we moved in.

But wait; before we moved into our condo we had put offers in on 2 new construction homes: one in Lehi, and one in Riverton. The home in Lehi was projected to be a year and a half construction period, and the home in Riverton was projected to be a six month construction period. Anyway, we left our money on both of them while we were in our condo. After about five months in the condo our Riverton property was getting close to being completed and we didn't want to get stuck with two mortgages, so we sold our condo in a hurry. Since we still had a month or so before we could move into our new home, we had to put most of our stuff in a storage unit and move to the in-laws home for about a month. We went on a cruise to the Caribbean that month so the time went by very quickly. (In-laws are great, but this means we moved out of our condo and into a storage unit with a temporary stay at the in-laws. This also means we had to move all of our stuff out of our in-laws and storage unit and into our new home about a month later...way too much work!)

We finally move into our home after our brief stint at the in-laws home, and about a week into our new home in Riverton I was already out and about looking at new homes. (Seriously who doesn't like moving every five to six months?) I found another home in Riverton (about a 2 min drive from the home I was in), and I put in an offer on that home. The construction on that home was projected at six months. After six months of living in our current Riverton home, our new Riverton Home was almost completed... but so was our Lehi Home. The Lehi home was now ahead of schedule, and was going to be completed at the same time as our new Riverton home.

Already sick of moving we decided not to sell the home we were in until after we closed on our new home in Riverton. That way we could just move from one house to the next without having to do some time at the parents and storage units. It just so happened that the two new homes we were purchasing finished the same week and we closed on them the same week.

We hadn't sold our current Riverton home yet so we lucky enough to have three mortgages at the same time. (Did I say lucky enough... I meant we were scared out of our minds) We moved from our current Riverton home to our New Riverton home and immediately put our old home on the market. (Six months is pretty old for a home isn't it?) We also listed our Lehi home because we obviously didn't want to have more than one mortgage.

We were lucky enough to get a quick nearly full price offer on our old Riverton home. So we sold that and were down to two mortgages. That was early 2007. During the summer of 2007 we were going to Italy with my family and had not sold our home in Lehi. I took it off the market briefly and re-listed it the night before we went on vacation. The price we were selling the home for was $259,900... When I re-listed the home (the night before we went to Italy for two weeks) I accidentally listed it for $159,900.

At this same time I was selling a home for my father in law, and when I left on my vacation I put his phone number down as a contact on my voicemail so people could call him about his home. The next morning my plane took off and I turned off my phone for two weeks!!! As for my father in law and my broker, ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. They received hundreds of phone calls about the new home for $159,900 (remember it was really supposed to be $259,900 so it was probably the best deal in the state at the time - too bad it was a typo for all the people who were interested.) Anyway, I came home to an upset father in law and upset broker. Not only that, I had about 100 offers at my home and my office. My fax machine was out of paper, and when I put new paper in more and more offers kept printing. My box at work was more than full, and I had to start calling all of these agents to let them know that the price was actually $259,900. It was a huge pain in the butt.

Once I got all of that taken care of and the price was corrected, we got a real offer (just one this time) and accepted it. We ended up closing on that Lehi home in July of 2007.

Finally down to one mortgage, we decided that we were going to stay in this home for at least two full years and hopefully more. After about nine months in that home I actually put an offer on an acre lot in Herriman and was going to build a nice big custom home, but at that time the market was really starting to slow down and I backed out of the deal. I really am grateful that we are still in our home in Riverton; we are coming up on our year and a half mark which is good progress for us.

So right now we are happy living in our Riverton home. Both are old Riverton neighborhood and our new Riverton neighborhood are packed with people from Alta High School and a lot of other young couples, so we have a lot of fun.

That is the story of us living in too many places. I guess it makes sense that now I am selling homes for a homebuilder.

-Other than all of that we just went on another Cruise a couple of weeks ago to Mexico (Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta) with some friends: The Lange’s, Stephenson’s, and the Hadlock's. My sister and brother in law were supposed to go as well but they had to back out because of his new job.

- I have spent too much time and money landscaping my yard.

- I have been taking the slow path through school. Last year I finished my associate’s degree at SLCC and am now at Utah Valley University (used to be UVSC). My plan is to be graduated in 2010. Depending on where work is, I may be transferring up the UofU.

- Last Christmas we went down to the Vegas Bowl to see BYU beat UCLA. Go Cougs!

- We have done Jazz season tickets, which is really fun (but a lot of games to go to for the wife.)

- Nicole has been working like crazy at a dental office in Draper.

- I am looking at purchasing land to build a retail center on.

- My family is looking at buying some Alpacas to put on our farm in Fairview.

- No kids yet.

That is the run down for anyone who was bored enough to read all of this.

Much Love,
Jason Judd
